The Rucksack Project
Welcome to The Rucksack Project!
Who We Are
We are The Rucksack Project, a student led project based on the Sutton Bonington Campus of the University of Nottingham.
We aim to provide a rucksack filled with much needed supplies to support the homeless and vulnerably housed community of Nottingham through the winter months.
This Year’s Project
Following last’s years success with around 35 rucksacks being handed out in December, we aim to build upon this and again ensure that everybody who attends the SoupRunners (who give out soup every Tuesday to the homeless community) will be provided with a rucksack.
From September we will be collecting donations and filling the rucksacks, with the aim of taking these to Nottingham in December to hand them out. Last year it was overwhelming to see the impact of the project, and how truly grateful these people were for something so simple. With your help this project will continue to grow, and be bigger and better this year!
How You Can Help
Any help you can give is very much appreciated, and there are many ways to support the project:
We need your help to raise money and raid cupboards to ensure we reach our aim! Donations of any of the items on the list below are gratefully received, or any money donations to help buy the items. You can also be provided with a rucksack to fill yourself. There are opportunities to help with the fundraising events over the coming months, as well as packing the rucksacks with the supplies. And of course you are welcome to help hand out the filled rucksacks in December!
If you are interested in getting involved this year, please sign up!
We aim to fill every rucksack with the following:
- Hat, scarf, gloves
- Warm Jumper
- New pair of pants and socks
- Blanket or a sleeping bag
- 2 tins of soup
- Any other items that will fit in the rucksack!
This year we would also be especially grateful for donations of the rucksacks themselves.
