Health 4 Youths

Health4Youths is a student-led, voluntary group established to provide Year 7 – Year 12 students, from schools and colleges in the Nottingham and Derby area, with valuable information regarding health-related topics. These workshops provide young students with a broad understanding of issues that are often stigmatised and misunderstood. It is of paramount importance to our SLP to dispel any confusion surrounding common obstacles that young people often face unprepared. Our workshops are unbiased and non-judgemental, preferring to show objective data and facts, allowing an independent opinion to be made.

  • Depression and Stress - How to recognise it, how, where and when to get help and how to deal with it.

  • Eating Disorders - Anorexia, Bulimia, and obesity, what they are, what they mean, how when and where to get help.

  • Drugs and Addiction - Classes of drugs, different kinds, how they affect you physically and mentally, how to get help, and how to be safe.

  • Smoking and Alcohol - Dangers, how to be responsible, where to get help.

  • Nutrition and Healthy Eating - Food groups, good diet.

  • Exercise - The importance of exercise in maintaining good health, long term benefits of being active.

  • Sexual Health - STIs and staying safe, Abuse within relationships.

This SLP is run by project leader Duncan McGregor and treasurer Amar Singh. For further information about volunteering or organising sessions in schools, please email at: Be aware that no health-related background is required to volunteer for Health4Youths.
