About us

We’re looking to recruit 8 enthusiastic, creative and reliable event officers to join our Students’ Union Events Team. As a team we help to organise and run some of the Students’ Union biggest events from Varsity through to Graduation Ball.

As well as getting to organise and run the events, we’ll provide you with free first aid training and employability workshops! You’ll be able to get references and some amazing experience to add to your CV, all whilst being a part of a fun and thriving team.

Don’t worry if you haven’t previously had any events experience, we will provide you with full training and support along the way!

About your role

There are loads of areas that you can gain experience in in this role including:

Social Media and Marketing
Varsity and Sporting Events
Theming
Logistics and Safety 
Performances

This is a really varied role and below are some of the activities that you might be getting involved with:

  • Supporting with the delivery of SU events

  • Making sure the student voice is heard in event planning

  • Conduct venue visits where applicable

  • Liaise with TEC in relation to event production

  • Liaise with suppliers / contractors

  • ·Attend regular Events team meetings

  • Ensure that all events are organised to have a positive impact on the student experience

Commitment

The Student Events Team is a highly valued and integral part of the Students’ Union Events department. We are looking for volunteers to commit to regular team meetings, planning sessions and able to attend a number of events throughout the year.

The minimum commitment we’re looking for is typically 2 hours a week plus support at events throughout term time.

The events officer role runs for a full academic year around studies and is a voluntary role

  2. Successful applicants will be contacted by 4:00 PM on Friday 4th October, and will be asked to attend a group assessment 1:00 – 3:30 PM on Wednesday 9th October. Successful applicants from that assessment will then be invited to attend a short, informal chat either on Wednesday 23rd or Thursday 24th October.
