Sentas (Special Educational Needs Transport Advocacy Service) is a non-profit community interest company who helps children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) access education.
Local Authorities have a legal duty to provide transport assistance to eligible children with SEND, however many Local Authorities fail in this duty causing hardship, inequality and distress to families. Each Local Authority also has a legal duty to provide a home to school transport policy that complies with legislation.
We support these families by providing information, advice and advocacy around issues and legislation surrounding home to school transport. Sentas also reviews and challenges Local Authorities home to school transport policies that do not comply with current legislation.
