Volunteer with Over The Wall to gain incredible experience, change lives and have fun!
Over The Wall provides free of charge residential activity camps to children and young people aged 8-17 affected by serious illness and their families. We give seriously ill children and their families a week of experiences that are memorable, fun, empowering, physically safe and medically sound- but we require a group of superb volunteers to make the magic happen.
We recruit a lot of student and graduate Volunteers who have told us how much Over The Wall has improved their future studies and career opportunities. We have many returning student Volunteers because of the fantastic experiences they have.
About your role
Volunteering opportunities are available at week long residential camps over Easter or during the summer. Volunteering at camp is great fun and hugely rewarding. Seeing the difference in the campers after just one week can be amazing and tremendously satisfying!
Camp is structured around activities, food and fun! The week will largely consist of singing camp songs, being covered in face paint and being challenged in fun ways such as wearing your pyjamas to breakfast or eating your dinner with socks on your hands. This means we're looking for people who can respond well to our campers and be a bit silly, but who are also able to be a sensible, supervising adult when necessary.

We are always looking for Volunteers to help us with the following roles:
Team Mate - Throughout Camp you will enthusiastically support Campers in a wide range of activities, encouraging them to reflect on what they have achieved. You will also look after the day-time and night-time needs of the Campers in their accommodation. Team Mates build fantastic 1 to 1 relationships with Campers.
Activity Leaders - For those with a specific interest and/ or skills in music, drama, sports, games or arts and crafts there are opportunities to help lead a specific activity at Camp.
Camp Recorder - The role of Camp Recorder is to capture the fun of Camp and the achievements of all our Campers. Our Camp Recorders are keen amateur photographers.
Camp Safeguarding Officer - Suitable for those trained and experienced in Safeguarding, this role helps us create the safest possible environment for our Campers
All of the Over The Wall camps are residential over a range of 3 -5 nights. Volunteers are required to attend up to 2 nights before our Campers arrive for training, team building and preparation.
