Nightline is a student-run listening and information service that provides a point of contact for students at the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University. Nightline is completely anonymous and confidential and is open every night during term-time from 7pm-8am, as well as providing a 24 hour service during the exam period! At Nottingham Nightline we provide a telephone, email and instant messenger service, Skype as well as running a PostSecret service for students.

Publicity Team Member
Nightline's publicity team have the exciting and fun task of spreading the word about the service to the Nottingham student population! It's informal, friendly and you meet lots of amazing people! Our volunteers can help in many ways. We take Patch the Nightline bear to Ocean on Friday nights to give out free hugs, and we often have stalls at university events giving out cool free stuff and chatting to people!
Listening Volunteer (Recruitment for listening volunteers is closed until Septmber 2017)
Nightline volunteers answer phone calls and instant messages from students, at UoN and NTU, who need information or someone to speak to for support.
As part of the listening service; Nightliners are there to listen to any problems students may have, whether they’re stressed, worried about exams, having problems with friends or just want a chat.
Nightline is also an information service so volunteers help with University information, such as exam timetables, library opening times. Nottingham information, such as clubs, restaurants, bus timetables, health centre numbers, taxi numbers and even locksmith numbers!
Full training and support is provided to help you deal with any phone call that may come in.
Listening Volunteer commitment of 8 weeks training and a minimum of 3 shifts per term (the shifts run from 7pm-8am every evening and day shifts for 24 hour provision during Exam period)
The Publicity Team Member role is flexible; you can help out at one event or every week if you want

3) After the application deadline Nightline will get in touch with you for an informal phone interview, if successful you will be invited to the training sessions
Nightline Listeners are recruited twice a year, Applications are now closed for academic year 2016/17 and they will reopen again October 2017 and January 2018 for next academic year. You can apply to volunteer with the Publicity Team all year around.
All our volunteers need to stay strictly anonymous so we ask that you don't tell anyone that you are planning to train with us or volunteer with Nightline
Nightline ask that volunters have fluent spoken and written English skills
Because of the commitment level Nightline cannot accept final year students for the second recruitment date.
