International students sometimes need an extra hand when moving to university, there are certain questions that a prospectus or staff member maybe can’t help with for example buying a new sim card or finding the best places in town.

The Global Buddy scheme is a new, informal peer-to-peer mentoring program between International and EU students coming to study on our UK campus. When signing up to the scheme you’ll be paired with a UK student based on the interests you share in your sign-up form, helping you settle in to your new city.

The scheme runs twice a year during September arrivals and in January, with social events planned alongside other Students’ Union events throughout the year, and if you want to volunteer you only have to commit for a term.

As the Global Buddy project is a new scheme it’s only been rolled out in certain faculties so far; if you'd like more information or would like to get involved, please email volunteering@nottingham.ac.uk.
