Calling new international students
What is Global Buddies?
When you arrive on campus for the first time, you’ll be partnered with a mentor – a current student who will show you everything Nottingham has to offer. They’ll contact you before you land in the UK, and will be here to answer your questions before you arrive and when you get here. They’ll help you settle in and offer support, or show you where to find the help you need. You’ll also have the opportunity to get involved with our Monthly Meetups, meet students from the UK and around the world, and be a part of the SU community.
Applications for students starting in January 2020 are now open. Please apply here by 22 January at 9am (UK time)to be matched with a mentor.
Even if you are not part of Global Buddies, you can come to our Monthly Meetups! Check out our Facebook group to get all the latest updates and find out what’s going on. You can also follow us on Instagram @globalbuddiesuon

Volunteer with us
You’ll support a small number of international students, for up to four hours a week, helping them settle in, make new friends and make the most of their time at University.
You’ll get full training from us, making sure you’re taught everything you need to know about being a Global Buddy. So if you’ve got great social skills and empathy towards any issues that may affect international students, we want to hear from you.
Volunteering in Global Buddies was a really fun and fruitful experience. An amazing chance to meet with other people who are willing to help and keen on meeting other people from different cultures. It is also a chance to do something helpful and enjoy the happiness of giving. GB volunteer, January 2018
