Derby City Life Links is a mental health service in Derby. We provide support to people with mental health needs through our 1-1 sessions, infoline, peer support, recovery education and our website. Volunteering with us is a fantastic springboard for people with aspirations to get involved in health and social care, psychology and community outreach. About your role
Recovery Education - Develop and Deliver
Derby City Life Links are looking for enthusiastic, non judgemental and talkative people to help deliver to develop and deliver their new recovery education courses. You will help deliver workshops on topics such as food and mood, anxiety management and more. If there is an aspect of recovery or mental health you are passioante about, you can develop a session with support from their staff. You will recieve all the training you need and will be supported throughout your volunteering journey.
In this role, you will be helping to run our phoneline, which provides support, advice and signposting 9-5 Monday to Friday. Your role will consist of; explaining the service and support available, signpositing to other services in the community, solving problems, discussing next steps with clients and building and developing the network of services in the community. You will recieve full training and support from staff. There will always be a member of staff you can ask for advice and support. For this role it is vital that you can be empathetic, have good listening skills and a non-judgmental outlook.
Volunteering times will depend on both the role and the individual. However, Derby City Life Links are keen to find a role that suits your timetable. They ask for a minimum commitment of six months (this can be flexible with university commitments).
