ArtSpeak provides Arts, Activities and Friendship for peoples aged 60+. Using a bespoke arts programme with a variety of different activties, workshops and events. Artspeak offers its members opportunities to engage in the Arts as participants, creators of their own work or as audience members. The aim of ArtSpeak is to address some of the issues than can affect an ageing population of a City and help improve the social well-being of older people, making people aged 60 and above more visible and active in society.
About your role
Creative Workshop Assistant - Theatre hub
We are looking for friendly and confident individuals to join our team of volunteers and get involved with an 8-week theatre course. Your role will involve joining in with some theatrical activities, talking with participants and generally making sure participants get the most of the course. This is an ideal role for people that have an interest in drama and theatre studies. The sessions take place fortnightly on Thursday afternoons and the course will start at the end of October 2019.
Creative Workshop Assistant - Creative writing
We are looking for friendly and innovative individuals to join our team of volunteers and get involved with a 12-week creative writing course. Your role will involve joining in with some activities, talking with participants and generally making sure participants get the most of the course. You could even share advice on potential platforms where people can share their work. This is an ideal role for people that have in interest in blogging, journalism and meeting new people. The sessions take place on Wednesday afternoons and the course will start on 25 September 2019.
Gallery Walkthrough Volunteer
Do you have an interest in visual art and like welcoming and engaging with new people? We are looking for friendly people to welcome participants, register people as members and capture some great photos of the event. ArtSpeak work with a range of galleries across Nottingham including Nottingham Contemporary, New art Exchange and Lakeside arts.
Due to the range of programmes that ArtSpeak run, there are varying levels of commitment for each volunteer role. Most roles ask for a minimum commitment of 2-3 hours a week over 2-3 months. It is worth noting that ArtSpeak run exciting projects throughout the year so it is always worth getting in touch to see what might be suitable for you.
How to find us
ArtSpeaks main office is based on Jubilee Campus in the Institute of Mental Health. However, the volunteering opportunities take place at various locations and galleries across Nottingham city. Any travel costs will be reimbursed.

2) We will send you the details to get involved with ArtSpeak
3) You will be required to fill in a short application form and also provide two references.
4) You will then be invited for an informal chat and ArtSpeak will find an opportunity that suits you.
Volunteers can generally start away. Recruitment is year round.
Volunteers will recieve an induction along with training and support throughout. So you will be fully prepared to get involved.
Any travel costs will be reimbursed to volunteers
Volunteering with ArtSpeak helps develop valuable, transferable skills such as organisation, creativity, communication, motivation and general experience working with older members of the Nottingham community.
