Amber House is a women’s Refuge within Nottingham city supporting women and children fleeing domestic abuse. We have 4 flats where families share living spaces and a small team of support workers. Support is focused around moving families on successfully into their own houses whilst promoting independence, greater wellbeing and confidence building along the way.
When women come to our refuge they often know little about Nottingham City and sometimes lack knowledge and confidence to access local amenities, groups and activities for their children. We have a resource room for the children where daily sessions are available and staff work in partnership with mothers to meet the needs of their children.
As a volunteer you would bring an extra dynamic within the house planning and running sessions with the children, getting them out and about in the community, researching and accessing local amenities.
