Volunteer Award Nominations Open 10th April 2018!

 

Each year the Student Volunteer Team here at the Students' Union places around 4,000 University of Nottingham students into a wide variety of volunteering roles within our community.  These students willingly give up their free time to get involved in a wide range of activities such as leading their own student-led project, supporting a local or national organisation, or just taking part in a one day event. 

To thank our students for the hard work and contributions they make, we are hosting a Student Volunteer Awards evening on May 10th.  In order to recognise our student’s efforts we will be presenting a variety of awards on the night to celebrate their achievements and contributions.

You can nominate individuals, groups, organisations for our Volunteer Awards. The categories are:

* Going The Extra Mile *
* Outstanding Volunteer *
*Student Group Of The Year *
* Organisation Of The Year *

Going the Extra Mile Award!

Who can be nominated? Individual volunteers and groups of volunteers who are registered with the Student’s Union.

Who can submit a nomination? We welcome submissions from anyone who wants to nominate a volunteer. However you cannot nominate yourself.

Criteria

Students eligible to be nominated for this award may have shown:

  • Enthusiasm, responsibility and commitment to volunteering.
  • Involvement beyond what would normally be expected of their role
  • Supported to recruit student volunteers for an activity or project
  • Submit your nominations here!

Outstanding Volunteer Award

Who can be nominated? Individual volunteers and groups of volunteers who are registered with the Student’s Union.

Who can submit a nomination? We welcome submissions from anyone who wants to nominate a volunteer. However you cannot nominate yourself.

Criteria

Students eligible to be nominated for this award may have:

  • Had a significant impact on the project/service users
  • Motivated and inspired others
  • Brought forward new ideas or suggested new ways of working
  • Excellent communication skills i.e. with other volunteers/staff/service users
  • Shown outstanding commitment & reliability

Student Group of the Year Award

Who can be nominated? Groups of volunteers who are registered with the Student’s Union such as Societies, Student Led Pojects, Student Run Services, Networks and Campaign Groups.

Who can submit a nomination? We welcome submissions from anyone who wants to nominate a project, group or organisation. You are welcome to nominate yourself.

Criteria

The Student Led Group should meet the ALL of the following criteria:

  • Be financially independent and registered with the Student’s Union and have existed for more than 6 months.
  • Be Innovative, evaluate and continually find ways to develop the Project.
  • Have an Impact on others (if any evidence is available this will be an added support for your nomination).
  • Provide Volunteer Support and inspire their volunteer teams.
  • Project Leaders that are proven team players and effective volunteers
  • Submit your nominations here!

Organisation of the Year Award

Who can be nominated? This award is only open to groups or organisations who are regsitered with the Student Volunteer Centre.

Who can submit a nomination? We welcome submissions from anyone who wants to nominate a project, group or organisation. You are welcome to nominate yourself.

Criteria

The Organisation should meet ALL of the following criteria:

  • Provide excellent volunteer support and inspire volunteers.
  • Involve and /or inform volunteers about changes within the organisation
  • Offer training and support to develop volunteers.
  • Recognise and or celebrate volunteers and the role they play within the organisation.
  • Submit your nominations here!
  • Nominations

    To nominate an individual/group or organisation for an award please complete the attached form. Nominations close at 10pm on Wednesday the 25th of April 2018. All nomination forms must have been received by this date, late entries will not be put forward.

    We reserve the right to alter the category in which a person or group will be judged if another category is more appropriate.

    Nominations will be judged by a panel consisting of representatives from the Student Union, University of Nottingham (UoN) and UoN students and community representatives.

    All individuals and organisations nominated will receive a Certificate of recognition. Please ensure contact addresses are correct.

    If your nomination has been successful both you and the successful nominee will be invited to the Award Ceremony held where the winners will be presented with their awards. The Awards Ceremony will take place on the 10th of May, 18:00 – 20:00 pm.
