Nottingham New Theatre

The Nottingham New Theatre is the only 100% student-run theatre in the country and one of the biggest student groups at the University of Nottingham.

What is there to do at The Nottingham New Theatre?

There are many different ways to get involved as an NNT member with opportunities both on and off stage - these include acting, directing, producing, writing, lighting and sound, set design and construction, costume, make-up and many more. So, if you’ve ever wanted to try something new or if you already have a passion theatre, sign up and get involved! There are up to two shows every week, regular workshops, training sessions and socials so there is always a chance to take part.

How do I get involved?

At the start of each semester we hold two proposals meetings where potential directors propose their plays to the committee for either our In House season or our Fringe season - for more information on the two seasons and how to propose a show, contact Felicity, our Productions Co-ordinator, at productions@newtheatre.org.uk or our Fringe Co-ordinator, Chris, at fringe@newtheatre.org.uk.

Once the shows for the term are selected, we hold a season launch at the theatre (just next to the Portland Building on Cherry Tree Hill) where auditions are advertised and explained and the directors and producers of each show recruit members to work on their shows in various capacities. For information about the dates and times of our season launches, sign up to our mailing list via the SU website, check out our website at www.newtheatre.org.uk, like us on Facebook ('The Nottingham New Theatre'), follow us on twitter @thenewtheatre or email Emily, our secretary, at secretary@newtheatre.org.uk if you have any queries.
