Synchronised Swimming

Welcome to the University of Nottingham Synchronised Swimming Club

Do you enjoy swimming, but want to try something different? Do you want to increase your fitness, but hate going to the gym? Do you want to be part of a unique and exciting university sport that features in the Olympics? If so, then UoN Synchronised Swimming is the club for you! Not only is it a great way to gain skills in teamwork and build your general fitness, but it is thoroughly rewarding when you perform a perfected routine to music and wow the audience. The GB Duet qualified and performed at the Rio Olympics 2016 and the sports rules have just been relaxed to enable men to take part, paving the way for mixed routines and male championships.

The UoN Synchronised Swimming Club is about to enter its second year of being an official sport at the Univeristy of Nottingham, making us one of only 4 university synchro clubs in the UK. In our first year, we had 18 members join the club, with one being male. During this year, we managed to achieve some great things as a club, from performing a specially choreographed UoN themed routine at the Water Polo Varsity Match 2017, to winning 1st and 4th place at the Imperial Synchronised Swimming Competition. In the next year we hope to perform at even more water sport varsities and in even more competitions across the country, with both our beginners and advanced teams, duets and solos.

All training sessions will take place at David Ross Sports Village swimming pool on University Park Campus.

  • On land stretch and flexibility training: Wednesday - 3-4pm (fortnightly)
  • Pool training: Thursday – 5:30-7pm
  • Pool training: Sunday – 5:30-6:30pm

*Duing competition season there may be additional on land walk through sessions in addition to weekly training

During our first year we entered one competition hosted by Imperial College London. We entered two teams: a beginners team, made up of members who had never done the sport before joining the UoN Synchronised Swimming Team and an advanced team, of members who had done the sport previously. Both teams did exceptionally well, placing 1st and 4th at the competition. We aim to enter all abilities into competitions to ensure everyone has the chance to compete if they want. Equally, if you wanted to join the club for the fitness and social aspect, and not compete, the club can also accomodate for that.

For 2017/18 we hope to enter the Synchronised Swimming Masters, perform at more of the UoN Varsity matches and to enter more competitions accross the country.

Additional activities

We are a social club, welcoming all members. We aim to run monthly socials, which will vary from movie nights to club nights, so there will be something for everyone. We aspire to be a tight knit club, following the nature of the sport itself. We have also planned trips to watch various national synchronised swimming competitions to gain more inspiration and ideas for our routines for the 2017/18 acedemic year.

You can find us at the Welcome Sports Fair on Tuesday 26th September and Wednesday 27th September at the David Ross Sports Village. For more details visit:
