Lacrosse (Ladies)

University of Nottingham Ladies Lacrosse Club

Welcome to University of Nottingham Ladies Lacrosse club! We welcome players of all abilities from complete beginners to elite players. The Ladies Lacrosse is one of the most successful sports clubs in the university. Our 1st team compete in the Northern Premiership, and for the last two season finished 2nd in this league. Our 2nd and 3rd teams both compete in the Midlands Tiere 1 and our 4th team competes in Midlands Tiere 3.

Since 2018, we have taken part in the university's Beginners and Engage programme, which is additional beginner sessions where students can drop in and try lacrosse! We are hoping that this will increase the profile of the game, grow our lacrosse community and provide a much more holistic journey for our players through these sessions. If you want to give lacrosse a try, come along to one of our sessions! Visit for more information.

We have 2 membership options: BUCS/Standard and Beginners.

Membership fees for our club are as follows: £50 for BUCS/Standard and £35 for Beginners, for the 2019/20 academic year.

Please note, that UoN sports and fitness membership is also required to be part of our club. Early Bird membership is available until 2nd October 2019 and for £209 includes the following:

  • Access to the new £40 million David Ross Sports Village
  • Three fully-equipped fitness suites
  • Over a hundred weekly group exercise classes

The club currently has 4 BUCS competitive teams, giving more people than ever the chance to represent the University at lacrosse. All 4 teams train regularly and compete in BUCS matches every Wednesday.

Each team trains as follows:

1st Team

  • 3 pitch sessions a week
  • 2 S&C sessions a week
  • 1 recovery session a week

2nd Team

  • 2 pitch sessions a week
  • 1 S&C session a week

3rd Team

  • 2 pitch sessions a week
  • 1 fitness session a week

4th Team

  • 2 pitch sessions a week

All players in our competitive teams are required to attend all training sessions.

Beginners Lacrosse

Our development team is for beginners new to lacrosse allowing them to develop their skills in a more relaxed, non-competitive environment. Friendly matches are arranged for our development team against other university teams later on in the year. Many girls, from 1st year to 3rd years, start as beginners but end up playing for the BUCS teams.

Mixed Lacrosse:

Additionally, joint with Men’s Lacrosse, we run a mixed lacrosse team with matches against other uni's most sundays and a tour to Liverpool every year. We will be hosting a taster session, see keeps your eyes on our social media for more information on this! This taster is also free-of-charge and is one of the many perks of being part of the lacrosse club. Everyone is welcome, even if you haven’t played before! It’s an excellent way to meet other people in both the girls and boys’ clubs and play some light-hearted lacrosse.

Please follow this link for more information!

We also take part in the annual Nottingham Varsity against Nottingham Trent University which draws crowds of thousands to venues across Nottingham!

Since becoming an official Varsity fixture in 2017, we have won every single match and we hope to continue this fantastic winning streak into the future!

IMS Netball

For many girls having played both lacrosse and netball at school, it can be a tough decision to choose which one to continue once starting university. For this reason, we have entered a team in the IMS netball league. This means that anyone wanting to carry on playing netball is able to do so, with weekly Saturday matches against other clubs and societies. It allows girls from all teams to play together and encourages a more integrated club.

We go on tour with the men’s squad every Easter. An event not to be missed! Keep an eye out for the second and third years wearing Tour stash, talking endlessly about tour and look through our photo albums to get a better idea! Look out for the tour group on Facebook for more info.

We have weekly socials on Wednesday evenings and are very much connected with the Men's Lacrosse club and other Sports clubs throughout the uni! What better to celebrate a win on a Wednesday than heading to CRISIS with all of the club!

Our Social Secs will post all the details about socials on our socials fb group, linked here!
