Social club membership is only £30 for the whole year and all abilities are welcome (more information below)!!

There is an extra £60 BUCS fee for those who trial and recieve a place in one of our nine BUCS teams. Those teams recieve coaching from ex-international Martyn Lewis.

Trials

We are hosting trials on Saturday 29th September from 9am - 12am at David Ross Sports Village.

Trials cost £3 and we recommend you arrive 10 minutes early to warm up. Please wear suitable indoor court shoes and if possible bring your own racket as we only have a limited amount!!

You can register for trials by visiting our stand at the Welcome Sports Fair or on the day.

Please note, all students must trial if they wish to play for our competitive teams.

Taster

We are hosting a taster session for anyone who’d like to try Badminton on Monday 1st October from 5:30pm - 8:30pm at David Ross Sports Village. You do not have to arrive at the start so drop in at any time!

This is free-of-charge and all are welcome –it doesn’t matter if you’ve never played before!

BUCS Squad information

For the upcoming 2018/19 season the badminton squad will consist of 5 mens teams, 4 ladies teams and some reserves.

Our full time coach is ex-international player Martyn Lewis. We are put through our paces with multiple training sessions a day, including strength and conditioning sessions.

Badminton is one of the largest and most successful indoor sports in the BUCS team programme ranking 2nd nationally in the 2017/2018 BUCS league table!!

Both the Ladies 1st team and Mens 1st team are in the Premier division and we have achieved incredible BUCS success across all squads this season.

Social Club

One of the biggest clubs in the university, whether you have never picked up a racket before or have been playing for years, the social club welcomes players of all abilities.

It is a relaxed, social atmosphere in which to improve your badminton skills and more importantly meet new people and have fun!

The badminton club has exclusive court hire two evenings a week across both David Ross and Jubilee sports centres. These are as follows:

- Wednesdays 8:30pm - 10:30pm David Ross Sports Village

- Fridays 6:30pm-9pm David Ross Sports Village

- Saturdays 7pm-10pm Jubilee Sports Centre

For more information on our social club please contact our Social Club Secs Kiran (pmykpd@nottingham.ac.uk) or Megan (ppymes@nottingham.ac.uk).

IMS league

Anyone of any ability can join the IMS league, as long as you are a member of the badminton club and also have a sports centre membership.

Once you are registered you will be allocated a league and a list of matches to play. The fixtures are flexible and are organised between you and your opponent - book a court in your own time or make use of the social club sessions to play your matches.

It is a great opportunity to play in friendly matches whilst meeting new people.

The club will also be organising several one-day tournaments throughout the year.

If you are interested in playing in the league or have any questions regarding IMS badminton please contact the IMS badminton officer Kiran Patel (pmykdp@nottingham.ac.uk).

Engage

Our engage programme is brilliant for beginners who are looking to try something new! We offer one sessions a week:

- Fridays 7-8pm at David Ross

These sessions are free if you have sports and fitness membership or just a small charge if you don’t. Visit www.nottingham.ac.uk/sport/engage for more information.

For more information on our engage programme speak to our engage coordinator Kiran (pmykdp@nottingham.ac.uk)
