Archery

Welcome to the University of Nottingham Archery Club! We have represented the University in the Olympic sport of archery for many years. We are an inclusive club and we welcome anyone who wants to shoot at any level, from competing at Univeristy level competitions through to purely recreational - whatever best suits you!

We welcome new members of any skill level, ability and bow type: all beginners must complete a Beginners' Course, which we run at the start of each academic year, where all the equipment and coaching required for new members to learn the basics of archery is provided and which ensures you are safe to shoot. Archery is one of the only sports in which novices can compete in a separate category, which means anyone new to the sport has the opportunity to gain a national medal!

Experienced archers are also welcome join the club, where they can receive coaching and compete in our experienced teams, or join the recreational side of the club.

We also run regular Engage Sessions, where anyone can turn up and try archery: look out for these events on our Facebook page , or join our Engage Group.

Please like our FacebookTwitter and Instagram pages to keep up to date with the club:

Engage

We are part of the University's Engage programme, meaning we hold regular Have-a-Go sessions throughout the year: no sports membership is required and all abilities are welcome. With no trials or set teams, you can just turn up and try archery.  These sessions are free if you have UoN Sports membership, and cost £3 if not.

Look out for these events being advertised on our Facebook page, and join our Engage Group!

Upcoming Engage Sessions:

  • Sunday 6th May, 7-9pm (Inclusive Session)

  • Sunday 13th May 7-9pm

Beginners' Course

Beginners are required to complete a Beginners' Course that registers you with Archery GB and takes care of insurance before you can become a member of the club.  We run our own Beginners' Course at the start of each academic year.

PLEASE NOTE:

Our 2017/18 Course has now finished, and due to a lack of available experienced club memebers, we will be unable to run another this academic year.

However, you can undertake a beginners' course with another club, then shoot with us once you are registered with Archery GB.

Our Beginners' Course requires you to have sports membership in order to use the sports facilities at the University.

Membership

Membership fees for our club are £25 for the 17/18 academic year. This includes full use of the club equipment, coaching (if you choose to be part of the team), Archery GB membership and subsidised  travel/accommodation and entry fee costs.

Please note, that UoN sports and fitness membership is also required to be part of our club. This includes:

     • Access to the new £40 million David Ross Sports                Village
