Archery

Welcome to the University of Nottingham Archery Club! We have represented the University in the Olympic sport of archery for many years. We are an inclusive club and we welcome anyone who wants to shoot at any level, from competing at Univeristy level competitions through to purely recreational - whatever  best suits you!

We welcome new members of any skill level, ability and bow type: all beginners must complete a Beginners' Course, which we run at the start of each academic year, where all the equipment and coaching required for new members to learn the basics of archery is provided and which ensures you are safe to shoot. Archery is one of the only sports in which novices can compete in a separate category, which means anyone new to the sport has the opportunity to gain a national medal!

Experienced archers are also welcome join the club, where they can receive coaching and compete in our experienced teams, or join the recreational side of the club.

We also run regular Engage Sessions, where anyone can turn up and try archery: look out for these events on our Facebook page.

Please like our FacebookTwitter and Instagram pages to keep up to date with the club:

Beginners' Course

Beginners are required to complete a Beginners' Course that registers you with Archery GB and takes care of insurance before you can become a member of the club.

We run our own Beginners' Course at the start of each academic year: our Beginners' Course will comprise of two groups, each attending 3 consecutive weekly sessions. Group A's sessions will be on Wednesday evenings 7-10 pm, and Group B's will be on Saturdays 12-3 pm.  Sessions will begin the week commencing 2nd October.

Alternatively you can undertake a beginners' course with another club then shoot with us once you are registered with Archery GB.

Our Beginners' Course requires you to have sports membership in order to use the sports facilities at the University.

See the Beginners' Course Page for sign-ups.

Taster Sessions

If you think you might be interested in signing up to our Beginners Course but want to try it first then you're in luck! We're running taster sessions on Saturday 23rd September at 12-1pm and 1-2pm, and Saturday 30th September 12.10-3pm.  These are designed to give you the chance to find out whether archery is for you before you sign up. Come along to the Salle in the DRSV and have a go!

Membership fees for our club are £25 for the 17/18 academic year. This includes full use of the club equipment, coaching (if you choose to be part of the team), Archery GB membership and subsidised  travel/accommodation and entry fee costs.

Experienced Trials

Experienced "trials" are for those who have been shooting at a club with an Archery GB membership for more than a year, i.e. if you've completed a Beginners Course in the past.

If you are an Experienced archer interested in joining UoN Archery Club, then come along to the 4-7pm training session on Sunday 1st October, where we will simply assess that you are safe to shoot.

These "trials" do not define whether you will become part of the team: the team is open to all members of the club who are willing to commit to training and improving their skills.  We also have a recreational side of the club, for those who can committ less time to training or those who simply wish to shoot for pleasure at the university.
