The Men’s lacrosse club is a well established club for members of all lacrosse abilities. We have three teams playing in BUCS competitions. The 1st team plays in the BUCS premiership and is one of the best university sides in the country, winning silver two years in a row in the BUCS championship final as well as finishing in second place in their league. The 2nd and 3rd teams are generally made up of players that have taken up the sport on coming to university. The 2nd team have just finished third in the Midlands First division. Our 3rd team play in the Midlands second division.
We train 2 - 4 times a week depending on which team you are in. The majority of training times are in the evenings with the exceptions of one early morning session a week. As well as skill sessions there is the opportunity to further your game with strength and conditioning training in the 1st and 2nd teams.
On top of our sporting quests throughout the year the club also boasts a fruitful social life. Lacrosse is one of the few clubs to run its social calendar as the Men’s and Women’s clubs combined. This creates great opportunities to meet other lads and lasses across all years and become part of a friendly, lively network that is already in place. Socials are every Wednesday night, to celebrate a win, or forget about a loss, but due to the large mixed turnout they are always nights to remember. As well as regular socials the men's and women's clubs come together for various formal events throughout the year.
Each year come Easter time the entire men’s and women’s lacrosse section goes on tour together. This is something every person must experience and guarantees memories you will never forget with your team mates. Recent locations include Croatia and Spain.
As well as competing seperately the men's and women's clubs combine to field a mixed lacrosse squad most weeks. This culminates in an incredible weekend playing away in Liverpool which is definitely something not to be missed.
Should you be interested in joining or want to know a bit more about the sport please do not hesitate to send the club an email or join our facebook group for regular updates and information.
