STAR (Student Action for Refugees)

STAR (Student Action For Refugees) aims to raise awareness of refugees and asylum seekers in the UK. We also run volunteering projects and fundraise to directly help refugees and asylum seekers in Nottingham.

Our main activities are the Tuesday Night Project (7pm-8:30pm) and the Wednesday Women's Class (1pm-2:30pm) where we help to improve the English skills of refugees and asylum seekers in Nottingham by running an English Conversation Class with STAR volunteers, in association with the British Red Cross/the women's centre. This is run completely on a flexible basis, you can volunteer at one class, or every week!

Membership is only £1 for the entire year.

Click here to view our Instagram, or here for our 2019/20 Facebook page where we post the majority of our updates and sign up sheets.

We also run numerous events and socials (movie nights/ charity gigs/ meals out etc.) throughout the year so please join our Facebook group to stay up to date on everything within STAR! We hope to see you soon!
