Real Ale & Cider

Our Aim: To provide a friendly, fun, and educational society that best represents the interests of all real ale and cider drinkers studying at the University of Nottingham

This year we will provide all our members with plenty of entertaining real ale and cider related activities, including; pub crawls, brewery tours, tastings, beer & cider festival visits, BBQ socials, home brewing training, and even our own festival in Mooch!

What does this group offer?

Great opportunities for both first years and returners alike to get to know new people in a casual environment, as well as a chance to gain expert knowledge of Nottingham's best beers and pubs!

A 20p discount off the price of each pint of Real Ale at Mooch, and 10p per pint at The Boat Inn.

We will also offer members the chance to take up home brewing. In just three short weeks and with a minimum of hassle you can have your own homemade supplies of delicious bitter, stout, cider and lager! The society has a number of home brew kits which you can rent out for a small fee. We also put on home brewing training evenings throughout the year. Speak to a Committee Member if you are interested.

ALL OF THIS FOR JUST £4 - sign up below! You can collect your membership card at the first social you attend, just ask one of our Committee members.

For more information and details of about all our upcoming social events see our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.

This year we have been once again, and very kindly, sponsored by two great local Nottingham businesses

The Boat Inn is a traditional Real Ale pub that puts on a variety of great events each week. From Karaoke on Saturdays, Fish and Chip Night on a Tuesday, Curry Night on Thursdays, and their Pub Quiz on a Wednesday, you are always assured of excellent beer, good company and delicious food at the Boat! The Boat Inn can be found on Priory Street just behind the QMC and 5 minutes walk from South Entrance.

Smythson's Cafe is an independent coffee shop perfectly sited along Derby Road. It offers a mouthwatering variety of homemade cakes, baguettes, coffees and even local beers to fuel you for those long walks to and from campus. Offering a 10% student discount and being only 10 minutes away from the North Entrance, there really is no excuse not to stop by.
