Who we are
The Real Ale and Cider society aims to provide a welcoming, fun, and educational society for all Real Ale and Cider drinkers studying at the University of Nottingham. Whether you've never tried Real Ale before or are a seasoned connoisseur, our society offers something for everyone!
What does this group offer?
- Weekly events - anything from just a casual meet-up at a local venue, to quiz nights, brewery tours, tasting sessions, and trips to some of the Nottingham area's best beer festivals.
- For newcomers, the chance to explore Nottingham's rich culture of Real Ale, guided by our friendly and knowledgeable committee members.
- For the experienced, the opportunity to meet and chat with like-minded Real Ale and Cider drinkers.
- Home brewing! Ever fancied making your own beer? The society offers access to homebrew kits, along with help and advice from our dedicated homebrew officer.
ALL OF THIS FOR JUST £4 - sign up below! You can collect your membership card at the first social you attend, just ask one of our Committee members.
For more information and details of about all our upcoming social events see our Facebook page.
This year we have been once again, and very kindly, sponsored by two great local Nottingham businesses
The Overdraught is a new pub on Canning Circus, providing both traditional real ales and significant numbers of craft ale. It also provides a 20% student discount on Real Ale and a 30% discount on pints of Craft Ale!
The Malt Shovel in Beeston is a pub located within walking distance of the University Park campus and has an excellent selection of Real Ale along with a smaller selection of Cask Ales. We hope to see you there!
