PhysSoc Sport

PhysSoc sport is for anyone interested in having fun and keeping fit, all levels are welcome to any of our teams. Teams are free to join and you can come along and join in any time of the year. We play a wide variety of sports so there is something for everyone! And if we don't do your sport or you would like us to start up a new team just contact our sport sec Caitlin Hardie. Socials are also organised especially for those involved in sport.

The PhysSoc football team trains every Wednesday at 2pm on the Florence Boot field (the field behind Florence Boot halls). Games are played on Saturdays at Grove Farm playing fields  and all the information for the team is on the facebook group.

The PhysSoc rugby team will play matches every Wednesday afternoons on the Florence Boot field. Join the facebook group to keep up to date with all the training news and fixtures.

Hockey has matches every Sunday on the University Park astro turf. It is mixed and played across a third of the pitch. If you do not own your own hockey equipment, there are spares free to use.

Netball runs joint training with psychology at the University Park outdoor courts on Mondays 5-6. Games are played on the same courts on Wednesday afternoon. We like to end the terms with socials which have included trips to Planet Bounce and Alton Towers.

Battle of the Boffins

This year we will be participating in a charity dodgeball tournament, 8 sciences will be fighting for the title of best subject as well as to raise money for their chosen charity.The competition will take place on the 20th November so look out for more information!


Last year basketball training was introduced, if there is interest this year then we can set up a team to enter the official leage, eiter now or after Christmas. If you are interested in getting involved or would possibly like to captain this team please get let Caitlin know as soon as possible (either in person, on facebook or email

There are also one off volleyball tournaments run by IMS throughout the year. Details will be given closer to the time but if you are interested, the earlier you let us know, the better.
