17th October: Laser Quest
Our first non-drinking event is on it's way! On Wednesday 17th October we will be heading to Quasar Nottingham for an exclusive 2 hour session of Laser Quest including a free soft drink and a mini tournament! We have managed to get you tickets for only £7 each (when a standard Wednesday student price ticket would be £8 each excluding the free drink - what a bargain!).
We will meet at the venue but for any first years who don't know how to get there please message us and we can set up having some committee members meet them on campus to get a bus there!
GET YOUR TICKETS FAST AS WE WILL SELL OUT!
Find tickets here, on sale from 5pm on 3rd October.
14th-17th December: PhysSoc vs ChemSoc Invade Berlin
Hey PhysSoc! It's that time of year again, and we're about ready to start advertising our much anticipated annual December trip! This year we'll be heading to Berlin (arguably the most Christmassy place on Earth) with our friends over at ChemSoc.
Tickets this year cost £194 for PhysSoc members, and include:
* Return coach travel
* 2 nights accommodation at a fantastic hostel located right in the heart of Berlin - including breakfast each morning
* A bar crawl taking us through the best Berlin has to offer, with entry to one of Berlin's best clubs to top it all off
* A night at a traditional German Hofbrauhaus - giving us a chance to sample some of their famous beer
If that wasn't enough (because I know how much we all love Physics), PhysSoc will be heading over to the Zeiss Großplanetarium - one of the largest modern stellar theatres in Europe - to watch an immersive show taking us on a journey through the Solar System.
And if once again, that wasn't enough, you'll also have plenty of free time to explore one of the greatest cities in Europe. Why not check out the Berlin Wall or the Cathedral while you're there? And definitely don't miss out on the Christmas markets!
Be sure to keep an eye on the Facebook page as *****TICKETS GO LIVE ON THE 5th OCT***** and we'll be updating it with information on how to get them very soon. We'll also be hosting an information evening with FREE PIZZA shortly after term starts up (date TBC).
If you have any questions just drop us a message or come and visit us at the Welcome Fair where the committee will be around to tell you everything you need to know.
2nd October: £1 Bar Crawl
It's the start of another year of Physsoc so, of course, how could we start off better than with our infamous £1 bar crawl!
We will be taking you to some of the best bars in Nottingham and ending at Baa Bar where we have hired the balcony exclusively for Physsoc!
FREE SHOT AT ALL BARS (excluding our meeting point at Mooch).
8:30 Get bus into town
11:00 Baa Bar
16th-19th June: CERN Trip
Hi PhysSoc! Once again we're proud to announce we'll be running our prize-winning trip to Geneva, to visit CERN. We'll be going after summer exams, but before summer term ends, from 16th-19th June.
We'll be flying from London Gatwick, and will have coaches taking us from campus to Gatwick on the 16th and back on the 19th. If you'll already be around London, just let us know and you can meet us at the airport.
We're doing it a bit different this year and staying in a hotel rather than a hostel, but we've managed to get the price to match last year's, so you're in for a luxury trip for a cheap price! (The rooms have en-suites. We're excited). Don't worry, there's a communal area in the hotel so there's still room for being sociable and hanging out as a group!
Tickets will be £235. Deposits of £100 go on sale on Monday 19th February at 6:30pm, and the deadline for these will be Monday 5th March. You must be a PhysSoc member to buy a deposit! There's only 30 spaces, and we anticipate them to sell out very quickly, so get yours ASAP! When tickets sell out, we'll post a waiting list, so sign up to that if you miss out, as drop outs do happen, so you may still have a chance of coming along!
11th June: Boat Party
The end of the academic year is fast approaching, and what better way to celebrate exams finishing than with a party... on a boat!!
We’ll be providing transport from Uni park (and also a pickup in lenton for you older years) to the boat, where we will set sail at 7:30pm for a 3 hour cruise down the river Trent, aboard which you will be provided a hot meal, literally as much booze/non-alcoholic alternative as you can possibly drink, (yes really, it’s an open bar) and a lit DJ to help us party the night away.
After the boat cruise ends we will be picked up again and taken into town where we’ll party away what’s left of the night at our official after party! (More details to be announced soon.)
TICKETS ARE £25 FOR MEMBERS AND £28 FOR NON-MEMBERS.
A LINK TO BUY YOUR TICKET ON THE SU WEBSITE WILL BE POSTED ON THIS PAGE SO KEEP YOUR EYES PEELED!
The dress code is FORMAL - we haven’t had a formal event yet this year so what better time to get dressed up in your gladrags and get Raj to take some snaps of you and your squad looking all fancy. #NewCoverPhoto
