High Society is an alternative/indie music society that encompasses an amalgamation of anything that fits into the alternative bracket. Rock, pop, punk, experimental, hip-hop, electronica, jazz, the list goes on. We are a society for people who love music.

We specialise in organising gigs in unique venues across Nottingham, with one of our favourite haunts being Jt Soar, a converted potato warehouse. We have a wide range of socials that appeal to everyone, from hosting mixtape swaps at cafes in the trendy Hockley area which involves members burning a personal playlist onto a CD or writing out their songs on paper for sharing and swapping. This is a fantastic opportunity to find new music and enthuse about your favourite artists with like-minded people. Other socials include album listening parties, with members voting online for their favourite albums in accordance to a theme, pub quizzes and various Nottingham indie music club nights, such as Pressure Tuesdays at Rescue Rooms. To make sure you’re kitted out in the freshest wavey garms, we have a 10% discount with Wild Clothing, a vintage clothing store.
Being a student with a vinyl obsession is frustrating, but High Society members enjoy discounts at local Nottingham record shops Plates Records and Forever Records. We occasionally organise Record Store Crawls, so make sure you save that student loan!
You should join us not only because so many of us have made some of our closest friends through High Soc, but also because you'll make your membership back fee easily after only a couple of events! Check out our list of discounts on our discount page.
Check out the Alternative Fresher’s Week page to see a list of events starting on the 2nd of October 2017, the week after official fresher’s week. We can’t wait to meet you!
