What is Crossfit?

CrossFit is constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity. All CrossFit workouts are based on functional movements, and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more. Overall, the aim of CrossFit is to forge a broad, general and inclusive fitness supported by measurable, observable and repeatable results. There are 10 recognized general physical skills, each of which are trained via Crossfit. They are cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy. In essence, Crossfit defines fitness, you are as fit as you are competent in each of these 10 skills. 



Is it for me?

Whether you are a complete beginner or training to one day compete at the games, this society offers a platform for UoN students to get fit and healthy together. We encourage a community like feel where members should train and help eachother as much as possible. Crossfit offers a great starting point for beginners to get into physical fitness, but it also allows participants of other sports to get ahead of the game.  Christie Rampone, James Haskell and Sean Payton are examples of advocates of Crossfit, though they each specialise in a different sport. No matter what your individual goals are, so long as you are determined to get fit and healthy, then crossfit is for you.
