This page outlines the available positions on the committee, which are democratically elected each year.

Committee Postions:


  • Responsible for the clubs overall running & teamwork of the committee.

  • Organising the committee & ensuring other committee members are fufilling their roles.

  • Keeping up-to-date with paperwork & in regular contact with committee & staff members, event contacts & sponsors etc.

  • Keeping up-to-date with the society email account - which must be regularly checked.

  • Be ready to take charge and solve problems, delegating jobs to other committee members when appropriate.

  • Chair all meetings where he/she is present.

  • Attend society council meetings & a bronze award training session. 

  • Experience on a committee or with event organisation & management is recommended.


Social Secretary


  • Responsible for the organisation of events, for example, contacting cafes/ bars and obtaining quotes from companies for an event.

  • Working with any sponsors to ensure good nights out to attract members. Also the organisation of non-alcoholic events.

  • Responsible for collaborations with other societies.

  • Responsible, with the other committee members, for the successful running of all events.

  • An organised person maybe with event experience is recommended.


General Secretary


  • Responsible for taking minutes in committee meeting & calling meetings.

  • Responsible for the constitution, keeping the membership records & will be the Returning Officer for all elections.

  • Working the rest of the committee to keep the society running smoothly.


Director of Communications


  • Responsible for maintaining the SU, Facebook & twitter pages.

  • Making sure members are aware of all social events, Coeliac & gluten free related news & information, such as new cures & recipes.

  • Helping to create an online platform to spread awareness of Coeliac disease & those who suffer from a gluten based allergy or IBS.


Publicity Officer


  • Responsible for the Societies presence offline.

  • For organising all paper advertisements - such as flyers or poster. Fresher week is their main responsibility as this is when we advertise most offline.

  • Along with the other committee members, helping to create a flyers design & liaising with printers for quotes.

  • An organised person is recommended.



  • Responsible for keeping the Accounts of the Society.

  • Dealing with the university treasury & finance department - submitting expenses claim forms and grant requests. 

  • Must attend a bronze training award session for the society.
