INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS' NETWORK
(last updated october 2017)
Who We Are
The International Students' Network (ISN) is an association of the Students' Union (SU) run by international students for international students. We are supported by SU International Students' Officers, Loren Querickiol and Hemanth Kalathuru who work alongside an elected committee. Anyone classified as an International or EU student by the university is automatically considered a member of the Network!
The ISN is well known for its role in the Welcome Programme, as well as for holding various casual socials and events throughout the year that aim to celebrate the cultural diversity of UoN. Aside from promoting the socials of all cultural societies at the university (200+ student groups!), we also hold our own events, and specifically cater these events to international needs in regards to dietary restrictions, alcohol consumption, attire, and cost (CHEAP & CLASSY). In the past, we have hosted Taste of Home, Meet to Speak, Coffee, Culture & Chats, and even an International Ball! This year, we look forward to ending the year with a weeklong, campus-wide International Festival.
Welfare & Representation
The ISN also has a welfare and representational role in the international student community and acts as a liaison and channel so international students' voices may be heard by the SU and the International Office. The ISN works to ensure equal opportunities are in accordance to the standards our members. This is to allow all international/EU students to take full advantage of everything Nottingham has to offer and truly enjoy their stay in the UK. **If you are an international student and you are struggling with something or feel like you need someone to talk to, the ISN should be your first stop when searching for advice or even a viable solution.
What You Can Do as a Member
Members of the Network are encouraged to get involved and share their multicultural university experience in a showcase we like to call Humans of Nottingham. This page promotes a welcoming environment from the minute an international enters this University until they minute they leave.
The ISN is always looking to improve and further develop its work to continue fulfilling student needs. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with us (links below) if you'd like to stay updated on socials and campaigns, volunteer with the Network, or meet with one of our committee!
