The Student Volunteer Centre hosted the annual Student Volunteer Awards this May to celebrate all the great work and achievements of student Volunteers from the University of Nottingham Students’ Union!

This year saw over 100 certificate winners who all contributed their time to help out local charities and a variety of one off taster volunteering events.

The event also celebrated the achievements of 10 outstanding volunteers who were all nominated for awards from the charities they support.

Congratulations to all the Outstanding Volunteers:

Rebecca Calthorpe - Outstanding ability as a Childline Volunteer Counsellor

Jacques Domican-Bird - Hard work, leadership and dedication to Working in Tandem

Claire Holt –Commitment to the Student Volunteer Centre and Emmanuel House

Tom Jervis – Commitment as a Sports Buddy supporting disabled children to participate in sport

Rochelle Malcolm – Commitment and reliability as a STARS Trainer

Sarah McConnell - Fantastic support to Golden futures

Amy Prosser - Commitment as a Befriender with the Alzheimer’s Society

Katie Pollard - Leadership and ability to inspire young women at the Girl’s Brigade

Shirman Pui Man Lam - Cantonese Teacher at the Nottingham Chinese Welfare Association

Anna Roberts - Reliability and excellent service given to children as a Childline Volunteer Counsellor

The Student Volunteer Awards also celebrated Volunteering Projects run by students that make a real difference in the community.

Congratulations to the winner of Project of the year Marrow for their passion and enthusiasm for the Anthony Nolan Trust, fundraising and creating events to sign people up to the bone marrow register to help save lives!

Congratulations to Project of the year nominees:

Knit-a-Soc  - Passion to teach students to knit and their innovative charitable projects

Springboard - Outstanding passion and dedication helping Afro-Caribbean school children raise their aspirations
