Last Friday (13/4/18) UCU branches across the country voted to adopt the latest proposal put forward by UUK and UCU. The proposal includes the establishment of a Joint Experts Panel which will look at how the valuation of the pension scheme was originally reached, while retaining current pensions provisions until at least April 2019. As it stands, this will mean that all industrial action will be suspended.
University of Nottingham Students’ Union understands that this has been a particularly difficult time for all the members of our University community and we believe that no decisions have been taken lightly during this dispute. While recent decisions will hopefully lead to an end to any disruption, we know that some members of both UCU and the Students’ Union are concerned that this proposal has not set out a guaranteed solution to the overall problem. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and would like to reaffirm our position of solidarity with UCU.
