Students' Union Advice will now act as a place where victims of hate crime can report their incident to the police (anonymously or not) and get any welfare support they need.
If you are a victim of hate crime, make an appointment with SU Advice by email, phone or visit their reception on C Floor of Portland Building, University Park. Our advisors will then help you through the reporting process and give you any support you need.
This follows a manifesto promise from Jacob, your Community Officer, to deliver a hate crime reporting facility in the SU in readiness for National Hate Crime Awareness Week this week.
He said, ‘I’m proud that our SU now joins an alliance of reporting centres across Nottingham and the country to help fight hate and deliver justice to victims.
‘Our work on tackling hate crime does not end here. Over the next few months we will be working to deliver bystander intervention sessions so witnesses can help to report an incident and comfort a victim.
‘I want to thank SU Advice and local social enterprise Communites Inc for their help and support on this project.’
