I am delighted to announce that Lucy Wren and Rachel Levy are the lucky winners of Paint the Town!
The two designs, from 10 others that were also submitted, were selected by a panel of Nottingham City Council Representatives and myself. Rachel and Lucy will now begin work with environmental landscaping company, Hosta, and the City Council to see how they can best implement their designs and leave a lasting and colourful impact on the community they have lived in.
Here are the designs:
Sherwin Road - Lucy Wren
Grove Road - Rachel Levy
The Grove Road and Sherwin Road bridges have long been in need of redevelopment and it is my hope that Rachel and Lucy's creativity will bring some vibrancy back to the area.
The City Council has gone a long way to try and make new projects such as this one work, and permanent career opportunities available for students who want to live in Nottingham after they graduate. It is projects like these that make me confident that the City Council will continue to involve and value us as students as an important community in the city. I furthermore hope that Paint the Town can serve as a starting point to transform not just the symbolic gateways to Lenton, but the entire city and make Nottingham an even more attractive place to live and work.
Congratulations Lucy and Rachel!
