University of Nottingham Students’ Union Statement:
Following a quorate meeting of the University of Nottingham Students' Union Council, we are pleased to announce our support for the repeal of the 8th amendment of the Irish constitution. Policy passed on Thursday 10 May 2018 emphasises the need to support fair, safe and equal healthcare for our members. In line with the policy, we have set up a travel bursary to encourage our Irish students to travel home to vote. We stand firmly with our sisters fighting for repeal and believe that our members, regardless of where they are from, should have full bodily autonomy. While this policy was written in support of a repeal of the 8th amendment, the bursary is open to all eligible Irish students regardless of their voting intentions and we actively encourage Irish students to exercise their democratic right in the coming weeks.
Read the policy, and all of the others from the last Union Council.
