So you’ve heard on the grapevine that other students have found their house for next year…letting agents might be actively marketing their properties and encouraging you to sign up as quickly as possible…which leaves you feeling the panic of being left behind.
Don’t worry! Nottingham is one of few student cities where there is an excess of student properties available. As a renter in Nottingham you’re in a great position to take your time to make sure you are happy with your chosen potential housemates…before looking online…before viewing properties…before negotiating your rent…before committing yourself to a legally binding contract which is not due to start for about another 9 months…and before parting with your money to pay deposit and possibly agency fees!
Now is the time to prepare yourself, find some potential housemates and then agree on some essential things like how much rent you want to pay, what areas you would prefer, bedroom sizes, how many bathrooms and when would be best to start house hunting. Many students begin their search and secure their properties at the end of their first semester, after exams.
