Date: Friday 08 March 2019
Time: 5pm - 5pm
Location: Lake District
It’s that time of the year again, when we decide that it’s too cold to go diving so instead go for a weekend away in the Lake District. All are welcome on this trip, this is a great chance to meet the wider club as well as a fantastic trip.
This is predominantly a social trip, a chance for old members to get together and for them to meet up with the newer members of the club.
We leave Friday 8th of March arriving at the pub hopefully in time for last orders. Saturday 9th March, the day events is open to suggestions, although the rough plan is for those who wish, to dive either Wast Water the deepest lake in England or Hodge Close. Most people choose not to go diving and instead go on a delightful walk in a place of outstanding natural beauty. If the weather is rubbish we visit one of the lake district’s wonderful sheltered attractions; in the past we’ve visited the Lakes Aquarium on Lake Windermere. This is home to sharks, otters and for some reason monkeys.
The highlight of the trip is the black-tie meal on Saturday evening, we go to the New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel for a three-course dinner. The menu is attached. The bar will be open till late and thus many people’s memories are a tad hazy beyond a certain point in the night.
Sunday 10th March, we leave some choose to travel straight to Nottingham, others stop in one of the villages for lunch (Grasmere is a popular choice).
The trip costs £65 for accommodation, breakfast food and black-tie meal (travel is not included).
