It is easy to experience burn out after intense and passionate XR actions so we will teach you know about ways to combat this.
Taking care of your mental and physical health is so important and ensures XR can be amazing!
The theme this week is Regenerative culture!
Regenerative culture is what sets XR apart from other social justice movements. It is so important to be in touch with your needs and feelings, not only to prevent burn out but to improve communication and learning within XR.
It is easy to become swept up in the passionate nature of activism and neglect your body, your mind and your connections. This session will let you know about the regenerative culture activities XR does and how you can recognise your need for rest and regrouping.
Regenerative culture is also about learning and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of our actions. Whether this is physically (eg. action well being such as bringing blankets and biscuits for those on actions) or to mentally (eg. debriefing after an action to understand what occurred without anger, frustration or blame). If we can foster these practices early on it will make our movement incredible and we will be able to continue to rebel with love and passion. Having these practices also improves our connection and empathy to others and generally makes us all better and nicer people :)
This week we will have an amazing guided meditation in collaboration with Buddhist society, learn about regenerative culture, do some listening circles, breathing exercises and grounding techniques. These are all great for focusing on your physical and mental state and taking the space you need.
There will be tea and coffee and biscuits (all vegan)!
So come along and hang out, have a cuppa and get involved with all the fabulous XR activities we have planned!
