Winter dinner invitation

The Doctoral Society is honoured to invite all of its active members to the traditional Winter Dinner to be held on Wednesday December the 12th at The Larder on Goosegate, NG1 1FF.

For this year the theme of the dinner will be “Something Winterish” and you’re encouraged to wear any seasonal piece of clothing or accessory such as your favourite jumper of the best reindeer antlers you can find.

For members of the Doctoral Society, this event will have a recovery fee of only £10.00 which includes a 3-course meal and one drink. You are allowed to invite your supervisors, families or partners over for this celebration, just let them know they will need to pay a full price meal at £29.50. The Children’s menu holds the same items as the adult’s menu, but the portions are smaller at £14.75 OR for younger children (max. 8 y/o) there is the option of a small pizza or some pasta for £7.50

However, not all can be fun and games as there is a deadline. The Doctoral Society would love to have your confirmation (and the amount of people you will be bringing along) by midday November the 30th.

While purchasing your ticket(s) you will have the opportunity to select your menu. The complementary drink and seating arrangements will be made on the spot so we can celebrate while meeting new people.

Hopefully you can make it to this event, so we can relax and celebrate a term of hard work.

Member £10 (3-course meal + 1 drink)

Non-member adult £29.50 (3-course meal)

Non-member child (until 12 y/o) £14.75 (3-course meal but smaller portions)

Younger children (until 8 y/o) £7.50 (pizza or pasta)

NB. only members can buy tickets, i.e. you will have to buy the tickets for your guest(s) (family, friends, supervisors)

The tickets are non-refundable

Starters

duck and ham hock croquette, quince jam, jerusalem artichoke crisps

roasted butternut squash, goat’s cheese, rosemary pesto (v)

beetroot cured scottish salmon, apple, cucumber and creme fraiche

spiced cauliflower soup, yoghurt, almonds (v)

 

Mains

free range norfolk bronze turkey, stuffing & bacon, brussels tops, wild cranberries

14 hour braised blade of beef, roasted shallot, cavalo nero, creamed celeriac

cornish sea bass, potato and fennel terrine, saffron sauce

ricotta gnocchi, parsnip, sprouting broccoli, rocket (v)

- seasonal vegetables for the table -

 

Desserts

figgy toffee pudding, cinnamon custard

honey pannacotta, roasted clementine, pistachio

chocolate and malt delice, black treacle ice cream

fine british cheeses
