Women's Network Committee Elections

This is the election for the Women's Network Committee for the academic year 2018/19. It is recommended that you only nominate yourself for one position on the committee.

BME Committee Member

The BME Committee Member shall be the main liaison between the Women’s Network and the BME Network; and shall highlight what the Women’s Network must do in order to be as inclusive as possible; and shall always be consulted by other Committee members to make sure that the BME intersections are being recognised in events and campaigns organised by the Network.

The BME Officer will be a liaison between the BME community at the University and the Women’s Network. The officer will highlight what the Network has to do in order to be as inclusive as possible. This may include, i.e. joint events with the BME network.

Disabled Students' Committee Member

The Disabled Students' Committee Member shall be the main liaison between the Women’s Network and the Students with Disabilities Network; and shall highlight what the Women’s Network must do in order to be as inclusive and accessible as possible; and shall always be consulted by other Committee members to make sure that events and campaigns organised by the Network are always accessible.

The Students with Disabilities Officer will be a liaison between the Students with Disabilities community at the University and the Women’s Network. The officer will highlight what the Network has to do in order to be as inclusive as possible. This may include, i.e. joint events with the Students with Disabilities Network.

Events Coordinator (2 places)

The Events Coordinators shall be in charge of planning and organising events created by the Network Committee; and shall aid other Committee members as well as Active and Inactive members of the Network to make their ideas of events into reality, if possible; and be the Committee’s main liaison with the SU Events Office.

The Publicity and Events Co-ordinator will be in charge of publicising events created by the Committee. This involves being in charge of the Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook accounts. Furthermore, this position entails helping with publicising outside of social media, such as making posters and talk to the SU Events office. The Co-ordinator will further help other Committee members with their ideas for events and campaigns.

General Secretary

The General Secretary shall be responsible for taking minutes in Committee meetings; and organise room bookings for Committee meetings and other events; and if the Women’s Officer(s) cannot attend Committee meeting the General Secretary shall chair the meeting.

The General Secretary will be in charge of general organisation together with the Women’s Officers. Will be in charge of taking minutes and book rooms for Committee meetings.

LGBT+ Committee member

The LGBT+ Committee Member shall be the main liaison between the Women’s Network and the LGBT+ Network; and shall highlight what the Women’s Network must do in order to be as inclusive as possible; and shall always be consulted by other Committee members to make sure that the LGBT intersections are being recognised in events and campaigns organised by the Network.

Publicity Coordinator

The Publicity Coordinator shall be responsible for assisting Committee and other Network members in the promotion and publicity of their events and/or campaigns; shall be in charge of and regularly update social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Network webpage); and shall be responsible for the creation of any posters, flyers, Facebook events, or other promotional material.

Treasurer

The Treasurer shall handle all financial affairs of the Network and the Committee; and will further be in charge of keeping track of money acquired through fundraising. Cannot be in their final year at the university.

The Treasurer will be in charge of everything moneywise for the Committee and the Network. This will include being in charge of the Network’s account and help Committee members in case they need funding. The Treasurer will further be in charge of keeping track of the money acquired through fundraising.

Zine Editor

Shall be in charge of the creation, organisation, and layout of the Women’s Network and UoN Feminists joint magazine; and can set up a separate Committee specifically for the making of the Zine.

The Zine Editor will be in charge of the making and publishing of the Women’s Network and UoN Feminists’ joint magazine.
