I regulate the Students’ Union finances and oversee its commercial services (bars, shops, ents etc). I’m here to develop the Union’s services and income streams whilst ensuring a fair and efficient allocation of the budget for the benefit of students

My objectives for the year
1. Create an IT repair/support centre on each campus. There is currently one on main campus however its location is not ideal. By the end of the year I would like to have it relocated to a more central location on campus, in particular Portland or Hallward library. After talks with Steve Pinfield, head of I.S, I see no reason why this can’t be done by Easter at the latest. After this I would like to push to have these services on both Jubilee and Sutton Bonington.
2. Assess the process by which clubs and societies are allocated money for year and, together with the activities Exec, draw up a fairer way by which money is allocated. This process will involve ongoing discussions with treasurers of societies throughout the year to gather feedback as to how they are using their money and whether they are being given a fair amount.
3. I want the University to provide every first year student, starting from September 2013 to be provided with an NUS Extra Card. Not only will this be of significant benefit to each student, it will also be beneficial to the Student Union as each card sold to a student generate income for the SU. I have an upcoming meeting with the registrar to discuss this and hopefully the plan can be finalised by Christmas.
