Equal Opportunities & Welfare
Rosie Tressler
Equal Opportunities & Welfare Officer
suwelfare@nottingham.ac.uk
I’m here to ensure you can access the information and support you need to have a safe, fair and enjoyable time at university. I co-ordinate a number of welfare campaigns throughout the year such as ‘Easy Tiger’ (our sexual health campaign) and ‘Why let good times go bad?’, which is about encouraging students to drink safely. I’ll also be campaigning on issues such as money, exam stress and mental health.
I work closely with the Representational Officers (including LGBT, international, women’s, BME, disabled, postgraduate, and mature) and other student groups (including affiliated faith and cultural societies), supporting the development of their networks.
I ran for the role because I loved my year as Women’s Officer and wanted to keep working in the interest of our students. Our Student’s Union is great, but I want it to be even better by being a proactive campaigner and spokesperson for our students on welfare and equal opportunity issues, which are central to ensuring everyone has a fantastic time whilst studying at university.
This year I’ll be campaigning hard to make lots of positive changes for you! Key priorities will be mental health, sexual health and financial guidance. I’ll also be improving interfaith at Nottingham and increasing the profile of the representational networks. But most of all I’m here for you - your problems are MY problems - so let me know how I can be an effective representative for you!
