Simon Murphy – Activities Officer

My role is to represent and support all the societies within our students Union. There are 200 of them, so there must be one you fancy joining! If not, I’m here to help you set up your own! I also represent our Student Run Services such as the amazing WeekOne, the record breaking Karni and award winning New Theatre to name a few. You can find out more about these on this very website!

I ran for my position because there are too many good things happening at this Student’s Union and not enough people know about them. I want to be able to spread the word, spread the love and engage more people in our Activities than ever before.

This year I’m going to make sure you know what is out there for you. Every time there’s an event for you to enjoy or participate in I want to make sure you know about it! Then I’m going to make sure we get your opinion on what we do for you. That way when you come to one of our events like the Summer Party (the UK’s biggest student run festival) you are coming to see the acts that you told us you loved! Sound like a plan?

Some of you might be aware over the past week early discussions have taken place over a potential event involving external speakers on our campus in the coming weeks.

The event in question is no longer taking place. The way we deal with requests for events involving external speakers is to consider it in line with our external speakers policy and to make a decision on a case by case basis.
