Who are we?

SHOCKSoc is a Society for any student with an interest in all things Electrical; Electronic; Computing or just Technology in general!

...In a word - EVERYTHING! We hold regular Socials ranging from Quiz Nights to Paintballing; aimed particularly at students in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. This gives everyone a chance to meet each other, socialise and have some fun outside of the lecture theatre!

Additionally we also arrange a series of unique "Engineering" related trips throughout the year; previously these have included Power Stations and a Brewery! In the future we look forward to hosting a 'behind-the-scenes' tour of Alton Towers Theme Park and the BBC Studios; as well as a weekend residential at a Royal Navy Port!

We also work closely with some of our partner Societies in the Faculty of Engineering - including Engineers Without Borders and the Renewable Energy Society to offer a great range of activities and endless opportunities to socialise and meet new people!
Lastly we also provide unique networking opportunities within the world of Engineering; so as those of you who are looking for a career in the industry know exactly where to go when the time comes to start job hunting!

Membership only costs £2.00 for one year and this gives you discount entry and priority tickets to all our events and activities!
