People & Planet is the largest student network in Britain campaigning to take action on world poverty, human rights & the environment. People & Planet Nottingham is a branch of the national network and is based at the University of Nottingham Students' Union.
What do we do?
We meet every Tuesday evening during term time. We have several campaigns running throughout the year and the main ones are :
- Climate Change - Transition Universities: Aims to make our University low-carbon, low-energy, resilient, relocalised and community-led.
- Buy Right Campaign: Aims to end sweatshop abuses in our University supply chains.
- Tar-sands Free Universities: Ensure our University does not bank with, invest in, or accept funding from companies active in tar sands oil extraction- the world's most destructive energy source.
Any level of involvement is always welcome and you certainly don't have to be an expert!
How can you take part?
Just come along to any of our (very informal!) meetings. If you can't make it to our meetings or events but want to have some input, you can simply join us so you can receive our weekly emails with our news and upcoming events. You can take part in as much or as little as you like and there is always something different going in which you could be interested in.
