The University of Nottingham Lifesaving Club is now entering its 13th year and is run by students (and ex-students) for students. It is one of the cheapest and most fun ways to learn lifesaving skills and to take RLSS lifesaving qualifications. With regard to competitions, we are one of the most successful, active and largest university lifesaving clubs in the country and finished 2nd in the Student National Championships last year, with the aim of going one better! We are affiliated to the Royal Lifesaving Society (RLSS) as an approved training centre for lifesaving awards and the British University Lifeaving Club Association (BULSCA) who oversee competitive lifesaving between university clubs and run the annual student championships.

The Lifesaving Club has an excellent reputation for teaching awards, competing and socialising. Sunday training is 'awards training', Thursday focuses on competitive lifesaving and Wednesday is swim training. Competitions are held throughout the year and those new to lifesaving are capable of representing the university within a short period of time. We also hold regular socials ranging from trips to Alton Towers Water Park to some of Nottingham's biggest student club nights and bar crawls. Come down to any training session to find out more.

 You are welcome to join anytime, just come along to any of our training sessions to learn new skills and have the opportunity to compete for your uni!

 

 

Training 2009/2010

Wednesday: 1400-1530 @ Uni park pool - swim/speeds training

 

Thursday:     2030-2130 @ Sports centre - dryside competition training 

                       2130-2230 @ Uni park pool - wetside competition training

 

Sunday:        1600-1700 @ Sports centre - dryside awards/competition training

                       1700-1830 @ Uni park pool wetside awards/competition training

 

The lifesaving club recommends to its members that they purchase a silver sports membership from the portal.

 

News and Results

Good luck to the two teams competing at Warwick this weekend!

 

We entered one team for the Plymouth competition who finished 8th! It was the first year of the competition and the first Medley relay of this year. Everyone enjoyed the underwater themed social for which Spongebob characters were the most popular costumes :D

 

Well done to the teams who competed at Southampton’s Fresher’s competition! We entered three teams and celebrated our results at the Rubiks cube social, coming home with new clothes and accessories.

Congratulations to Rachel who competed in Canada this summer in the England Team!

 

Well done to everyone who competed at BULSCA, especially the girls manikin relay team for coming 3rd, the B team for winning the RNLI trophy and A team for coming 2nd on the Sunday.  Top marks to Nick and Rachel for coming in the top 3 for their individual speed events! Let's not forget the mens rope relay team for their 2nd place too...
