On Saturday 19th May, the University is once again throwing open its doors to the local community, alumni and current students at May Fest 2012.
We would like to see as many people there as possible, so please bring family and friends to get involved in the activities on offer and see a side to the University you may not have experienced before.
Programme highlights include:
Tools for Self Reliance See how you can volunteer with this voluntary student group, as they show how they fix donated tools and send them to African countries where recipients can use them to make a living.
The home of energy efficiency Take a guided tour of the Department of Architecture and Built Environment’s ‘Creative Energy Homes’. A research and environmental showcase of sustainable housing design.
Home of the MRI Uncover the background to one of Nottingham’s most famous inventions – Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Tour the Magnetic Resonance Centre set up to honour its inventor, Sir Peter Mansfield, and view other physics exhibits.
Preview ‘The History Boys’ Come along to the Students’ Union’s multi-award winning ‘New Theatre’ and enjoy a 30 minute snippet of their production of ‘The History Boys’. Or see the show in its entirety by booking online.
Charity – a duty to give? Where do your thoughts (or pounds) lie when it comes to charitable giving? Is it nice to give or a dutiful way to live? We delve deeper into this ethical debate.
