Your Students’ Union has successfully lobbied to improve food options for Vegetarians, Vegans and students with other special food requirements in University retail outlets!
Your Equal Opportunities and Welfare Officer, Rosie Tressler, and Environment and Social Justice Officer, Sarah-Joy Lewis, wrote and presented a paper to the catering department which included student feedback from focus groups and the Food and Drink Survey 2011.
As a result, the University have agreed to select and invest in a number of cafes over this summer, and identify them as places where people with vegetarian/vegan requirements or allergies, can get a good selection of products and fuller ranges. These cafes are likely to be:
Juice Bar, Portland
Law & Social Sciences (LASS)
Some products such as soya milk will also be available in other outlets!
The University are also considering expanding the Kosher Deli provision, so look out for more information in the future.
