Your Hall

Introduction

The University of Nottingham offers students the opportunity to live in one of 19 Halls of Residence spread across three campuses: University Park, Jubilee and Sutton Bonington.

Living in Halls of Residence is a great way to get to know students, can be lots of fun and is an excellent way to fully embrace University life.

To ensure you get the best experience possible whilst living in your accommodation, each year a group of students are elected to be your Junior Common Room (JCR) Committee.

What is a JCR?

The JCR committee is a group of students from your Halls of Residence that you elect at the start of the academic year to look after your welfare, organise social and sporting activities, manage your budget and represent your views to Hall Management, the Students Union and the University.

Each committee is allocated a budget of approximately £50 per resident, meaning that they have thousands of pounds to spend on making sure you get the best out of your time in Halls.

How can I get involved?

Being part of your JCR committee is a great way to get involved in your University life, develop your skills, make a difference and it looks good on your CV too!

The experience can be really good fun and an incredibly rewarding opportunity.

Elections for the committees take place each October.

Information will be available in your Hall, from the current JCR committee or on this website.

Alternatively, contact Sarah Battle, Residential Associations Development Worker, sarah.battle@nottingham.ac.uk.

If you don’t want to be part of the committee, you can still get involved in the social or sporting activities that they run.
