It all began in 2005 when a group of 30 Nottingham students went out to Meserani, Tanzania and built an education centre for the local community. This centre offers a free education to anyone who wants it, teaching subjects like Swahili reading and writing, English, Computing and Maths. Working In Tandem funds the initial education centre, raising money throughout the year to ensure that everyone in Meserani and the surrounding area has access to a free education, and we need your help to do it! So if you've got any ideas, expertise or spare time and you'd like to get involved.... We are always looking for new inspiration either with fundraising, publicity, raising awareness or with planning the summer placements for volunteers to go to Meserani. What ever you can bring to the project will always be welcome Meetings are Wednesdays at 2.00pm, rooms vary so message us to ask or check with the Student Volunteer Centre in Portland. If not, then we're always holding events, from cake sales to band nights so come along and have a great time in the name of charity!
