Mixed Martial Arts(MMA) is one of the world's fastest growing contact sports that, as it sounds, takes aspects of multiple forms of martial arts so fighters fight in as real a way as possible, with rules in place simply to prevent serious injury.
Each fighter and coach has their own specialization, based on their own strengths. Our coach comes from a background of Muay Thai and so we focus mainly on striking, whether that is standing up or on the ground.
This club is a safe, friendly and relaxed environment for everyone who is interested in MMA. People of ANY experience are welcome, even if you have never done any form of martial art before, we will be having classes to go over the basics that are less intense than the main practice sessions. Classes look at improving strength, fitness and technique, and are a great way to generally keep healthy.

COST: Membership of the club is £8. Each session costs £3 for members and £4 for non-members. The first session you turn up to will be free.
If you want to turn up to sessions at the sports centre you will need at least a bronze membership with the University sports centre, which costs £69. I think that the first week they do not charge for entry if you are not a member, but then they will begin to charge once the week is over (£5 per entry if you have no membership)
EQUIPMENT: We provide gloves and focus pads, although if you have your own then bring them along, it will help with equipment numbers. All you need to wear is a t-shirt and either shorts or tracksuit bottoms. Bringing water would be beneficial as well! If you want to come regularly I would recommend investing in hand wraps (which can be bought from places like sports world in town) as the gloves can rub between the fingers which can be annoying. If you want to bring a gum shield then do, but they will not be necessary untill we all get to a good level to begin sparring.
SESSIONS: Steve (our coach) comes from a Muay Thai background and so in terms of what our sessions consist of, Steve tends to say 70% striking and 30% submissions.
