MPS (The Munro Pineapple Society)
What do we do?
We specialise in all types and standards of Summer and Winter mountaineering, climbing and hill walking. This involves everything from long hill-walks in the Southern Highlands, through winter climbing on Ben Nevis, long scrambles and multi-pitch climbs on the Isle of Skye, to Alpine climbing in the French Alps.
Where do we go?
Our roots lie in Scotland and we make every effort to get there as much as possible throughout the year. We have regular
weekend-trips
throughout the term and week long trips during the holiday periods. The highlight of our year for many is the three day Winter Skills Trip in January where we hire guides to give a comprehensive (and heavily-subsidised) course on the skills necessary for safe winter hill-walking and mountaineering. Finally, we have a
social
every Tuesday at different
pubs
around Nottingham so that you can meet like-minded people and to sign up for the trips.
For more information, the latest news, reports from previous trips and how to join check out the website

.
People who join MPS range from people who have never really been for a walk before to people with a relatively large amount of technical mountaineering experience. MPS simply provides a place to meet people with similar interests. All of our members learn something everytime they go out; Inexperienced and battle hardened members alike learning new skills and developing old ones. Indeed, some people who have joined the club out of curiosity and with no desire to go climbing whatsoever have found themselves on hard routes in the Alps only a year later!
