About Us:
The University of Nottingham Hockey Club is at the pinnacle of university hockey excellence in this country, being the only club with 5 teams competing in the top 4 tiers of the BUCS university system.
Our men’s 1st XI, coached by former England International (20 caps) Matt Taylor, recently won promotion to the BUCS Premier Division and managed to consolidate our position within the league in our first season back, with special wins against Loughborough and Nottingham Trent, so we will again be competing at the highest level in 2011/12. The BUCS Premier Division is fiercely contested playing host to the likes of Loughborough, Birmingham and Durham universities to name a few.
Our 2nd XI also gained promotion this year to the top league for a 2nd XI with an impressive unbeaten season. The 1st and 2nd XI’s both train and play their home fixtures at the Highfield’s waterbase, home to the Beeston Hockey Club.
NUHC also competes in the Midlands Regional Hockey Association Saturday leagues with considerable success. The men’s 1st XI are favoured for promotion to the Midlands Premier and the 3’s and 4’s play in their highest possible leagues, playing against the equivalent teams from the big National League Midlands hockey clubs.

Varsity
Each year hockey plays a key role in determining the winner of the Varsity Series and we make the event a great club day with men’s and ladies matches against our Trent counterparts throughout through the day at Highfields Hockey Centre.
This season we have managed to raise some funds to subsidise the cost of playing, however, the club must charge a membership fee to cover costs.

Socials
The club also boasts a thriving social atmosphere as the largest club in the University of Nottingham Athletic Union. Weekly Wednesday socials provide the opportunity to interact with all members of the club before dominating the dance floor of Nottingham’s biggest Wednesday Club night. We also run one off events such as the much anticipated Booze Cruise and Alumni Dinner.
Tour
Members of our Club are strongly recommended to go on our Annual Club Tour over Easter. It will be one of the best weeks of your University career, if not your life. It is a joint venture between the men’s and ladies clubs with as many as 100 people signing up. More details to follow.
