Jain Soc wants to unite all the Jains in nottingham and others who want to learn about Jainism and its way of life.
We will be holding events every fortnight throughout the year which will allow you to meet new people whilst also learn about Jainism. As well as this, we have weekly football training for our members that are interested, and also badminton training on the weekends.
So, what is Jainism you ask, is it just about vegetarianism, the answer is no, it is far more than that, Jainism is not just a religion it is a way of life.
The guiding principles are Right knowledge (Samayag Gnan),Right conduct (Samayag Charitra) and Right faith (Samayag Darshan)
The five great vows are: Ahimsa (non-violence), Satya (pursuit of truth), Asteya (non-stealing and honesty), Aparigraha (non-possession and non-attachment) Brahmacharya (celibacy). This society also aims to improve the understanding of rituals and prayers within Jainism, so that you can practise the religion with meaning. However, this society is not only about learning about spirituality, its about growing as a person, and don't forget it is a great way to meet new people and get further involved in the student comunity. Remember, Jain soc is here for students and run by students. So if you have any queries or suggestions for events or topics to be covered in future meetings, feel free to contact us.
