Film making society aims to encourage and support the work of amateur film makers within the University, by sourcing equipment, actors and viewing facilities, as well as organising external experts in the field to visit and speak about specific elements of film making. The society will allow members to meet potential collaborators for current film projects, as well as networking for future career possibilities and gaining film making experience in a fun and informal environment.
(NB. If anyone has NOT yet received any emails from the society, then get in touch now on filmmakingsoc@hotmail.com (someone reads that thing every hour) - don't get left out!)

This year Film Making Society is bigger and better than ever before!! We now have a wide range of professional equipment, including a nice Canon XL1 camera, tripod, lighting and sound equipment. More equipment is due to be purchased, and all of these are available for members to make their short films!
Our society will be collaborating with a few external organisations, including 'StoneSoup Productions', who provide a free film editing course to our members. Members will learn how to use Final Cut Pro, and produce a short film! New for this year is our affiliation with 'Go Forward Productions', who are a small film production company based in Nottingham. Various opportunities will be available to members to get involved in professional shoots, and we will also receive support from professional filmmakers.
Also new this year are trips to short film festivals around the country! This is a perfect opportunity for us to showcase our productions, and network with like-minded people! A tour of the BBC studios in London is also lined up, so pay attention to your emails for further details!
